DOT Region 2 Convenes Tourism Officers for the Updating of the Regional Tourism Development Plan (RTDP)
The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 2 successfully convened tourism officers for a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on February 16, 2026, as part of the Regional Tourism Consultation for the updating of the Regional Tourism Development Plan (RTDP) 2026-2028. The activity was held at Piazza Zicarelli Hotel, Restaurant and Bakeshop and gathered key stakeholders committed to advancing the tourism agenda of the region.




Assistant Regional Director Lelia Blancaflor formally set the tone of the consultation and welcomed the participants, emphasizing the importance of collaborative planning and evidence-based strategies in strengthening the region’s tourism competitiveness. Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Romeo G. Caranguian Jr. subsequently presented the objectives of the activity, outlining the key directions and expected outputs for the updating of the RTDP.





Tourism officers from the provinces of Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela, and Cagayan actively participated in the consultation, providing valuable insights and strategic recommendations on destination development, product enhancement, infrastructure support, and innovative marketing initiatives. Their contributions are instrumental in ensuring that each province’s distinctive attractions and tourism assets are effectively integrated into a cohesive and competitive regional framework.
The session was facilitated by tourism consultant Ramon A. Tiangco Jr., who led participants through structured discussions and strategic planning workshops. The consultation focused on identifying growth opportunities, addressing existing challenges, and formulating responsive strategies to sustain the region’s competitiveness amid evolving tourism trends.





The active engagement and collaborative spirit demonstrated throughout the consultation underscore a unified commitment to building a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable tourism industry. The updated RTDP aims to generate greater economic opportunities for local communities, enhance visitor experiences, and position the region as a compelling destination in Northern Philippines.
Through strengthened inter-provincial collaboration and a clear strategic direction, DOT Region 2 reaffirms its commitment to fostering a dynamic and future-ready tourism landscape—inviting travelers to explore more, stay longer, and experience the diverse offerings of Cagayan Valley and the Northern Philippine Islands.#
