DOT Region 2 Conducts Regional Tourism Development Planning Workshop
The workshop aims to gather inputs from stakeholders for the crafting of the regional tourism plan. Tourism industry players and movers from the private sector, academe and government have been invited to take part in this very important exercise.
The crafting of the plan is very important as it will serve as the region’s guide in articulating policies and in implementing tourism development programs, activities and projects to position tourism as primary growth driver of the region’s economy. Tourism is specifically highlighted in the Regional Development Plan of the region’s vision.
Also, the RTDP will provide development direction for the tourism industry which is the third top dollar earner in the economy of the country, next to Overseas Filipino Workers’ (OFW) remittance and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO).
The conduct of the workshop is in line with the mandate of the Department of Tourism, the agency charged with the responsibility to encourage, promote and develop tourism as a major socio economic activity to generate foreign currency
and employment and to spread the benefits of tourism to both the private and public sector.
DOT said, a consultancy team has been tapped to facilitate the workshop tomorrow in Cauayan City.
