The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 2 successfully conducted its 2026 Midyear Assessment and Work and Financial Plan (WFP) Review and Realignment Workshop on June 30, 2026, at Mango Suites, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, bringing together officials and personnel of the regional office to evaluate organizational accomplishments during the first semester and align priorities for the remainder of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The activity served as a strategic platform for assessing the progress of programs, projects, and activities implemented across the region while identifying key accomplishments, operational challenges, and areas requiring improvement. It also reinforced the Department’s commitment to strengthening organizational performance and ensuring that tourism initiatives remain responsive to the evolving needs of the industry and aligned with national development goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program formally opened with welcoming remarks from Regional Director Troy Alexander G. Miano, who underscored the importance of collaboration, accountability, and innovation in achieving the Department’s mandate of developing a sustainable, inclusive, and globally competitive tourism industry in the Cagayan Valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The morning session featured the presentation of the Chief’s Report by Chief Tourism Operations Officer Thomas G. Santos, followed by the Assistant Regional Director’s Report delivered by Assistant Regional Director Leila E. Blancaflor, highlighting the regional office’s operational accomplishments and organizational performance for the first half of 2026. Representatives from PhilHealth also provided updates on the YAKAP: Yaman ng Kalusugan Program, promoting employee health and wellness as an essential component of an effective and productive workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Representatives from the Administrative and Finance, Planning, Training, Product and Market Development, and Accreditation units presented their respective accomplishments, key milestones, and implementation updates for the first semester of 2026. These presentations served as the basis for evaluating the Department’s overall performance, identifying areas for improvement, and aligning priority programs and resources to ensure the effective implementation of tourism initiatives for the remainder of the year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the afternoon, participants engaged in the Review and Realignment of the 2026 Work and Financial Plan, where strategies, targets, and priority programs were revisited to ensure the effective utilization of resources and the timely delivery of tourism initiatives for the second semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The annual assessment and planning workshop reflects the Department’s continuing commitment to good governance, organizational excellence, and results-based management.
