The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 2 proudly took part in SALAAM 2026: The Halal Tourism and Trade Expo Philippines, held from June 19-21, 2026 at Quantum Skyview, Gateway Mall 2, Araneta City, Quezon City. The event served as a vital platform for promoting Halal tourism, trade, and Muslim-friendly products and services in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of its participation, DOT Region 2 showcased a rich array of Halal-certified and Halal-compliant local products from across Cagayan Valley Region, underscoring the region\u2019s commitment to advancing Halal tourism development, supporting local enterprises, and celebrating distinctive culinary heritage of Region 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the featured products were Domz Buko Pie from Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya, recognized for its quality packaging, proper sealing, and six-day shelf life under air-conditioned storage. Also showcased were Chicha-rica, an Ybanag food product produced by Lighthouse Cooperative in Tuguegarao City, and Big Brother\u2019s Cornick from Cauayan City, Isabela, a well-loved regional snack known for its distinct flavor and crunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further strengthening Region 2\u2019s participation, the Provincial Tourism Office of Isabela, headed by Ms. Joanne Dy Maranan contributed locally produced goods such as canned Chicken Adobo and Chicken Afritada by Sagittarian Meat Processing of Ilagan City, as well as Calaman-C Juice from Jones, Isabela. These products highlighted the province\u2019s support for local food producers and its continuing efforts to promote market-ready products aligned with Halal standards and tourism development initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the three-day expo, the DOT Region 2 booth drew interest from visitors, stakeholders, and prospective buyers, who expressed appreciation for the quality, authenticity, and uniqueness of the region\u2019s food offerings. The enthusiastic reception reflected a growing demand for Halal food products and a deeper appreciation for the rich culinary traditions of the Cagayan Valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participation of DOT Region 2 in SALAAM 2026 also reinforced the agency\u2019s support for the national thrust of developing the Philippines as a Muslim-friendly and Halal tourism destination. By promoting local products that are Halal-certified and Halal-compliant, the region not only strengthened the visibility of its local industries but also opened opportunities for collaboration, market expansion, and inclusive tourism growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
