The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 2, through its Product and Market Development Unit, together with representatives from the DOT Central Office and the Isabela Tourism Office, successfully concluded the site assessment for the \u201cIsabela Coast: Your Island Toast\u201d Tourism Circuit on May 22, 2026 in Palanan, Isabela. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The multi-day assessment covered the coastal municipalities of Maconacon, Divilacan, and Palanan, beginning with a one-day assessment in Maconacon, followed by two days in Divilacan, and concluding with a three-day assessment in Palanan. The assessment team visited various tourism sites and attractions across the three municipalities together with the respective Municipal Tourism Officers, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officers, Planning and Development Officers, Sangguniang Bayan Committee Chairs on Tourism, Local Chief Executives, and their representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to the conduct of the site visits, a Tourism Product Development Workshop was facilitated to provide local stakeholders with a foundational understanding of destination product development processes, tourism planning, and sustainable tourism management. The workshop also highlighted the importance of strengthening tourism products that are community-based, environmentally responsible, and market-ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anchored on the principle that \u201cthere is no perfect destination, only ready destinations,\u201d the site assessment served as a vital step in determining the readiness, sustainability, and development potential of the destinations under the Isabela Coast tourism circuit. Through on-site validation and consultations with local stakeholders, the activity enabled the assessment team to identify opportunities for product enhancement, visitor experience improvement, infrastructure needs, and sustainable management practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More importantly, the assessment reinforced the significance of diversifying tourism products across the coastal towns of Isabela. Beyond their pristine beaches and island landscapes, the municipalities showcased a wide range of tourism experiences including ecotourism, mangrove areas, cultural and community-based attractions, river and coastal experiences, local gastronomy, and nature-based adventures. Diversifying tourism products not only broadens visitor experiences but also helps distribute tourism opportunities among communities while strengthening local economic participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each municipal assessment concluded with a feedbacking session where observations, findings, and recommendations were presented to the concerned local government units and stakeholders. The feedbacking reports aimed to guide the municipalities in enhancing destination management, improving tourism facilities and services, and ensuring that tourism development remains responsible, inclusive, and sustainable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
