Students Showcase Tourism Knowledge in Quiz Bee during 4th North Luzon Travel Expo
Students from Isabela State University–Cauayan Campus emerged as champions in the Tourism Quiz held during the 4th North Luzon Travel Expo at SM City Tuguegarao, besting competitors from across the North Luzon regions.
The team from Nueva Vizcaya secured second place, while the Province of Cagayan clinched third place in the friendly yet intellectually charged competition that highlighted the importance of tourism education and youth participation in promoting regional destinations.
The champions received ₱30,000 in cash, certificates, tokens, and a round-trip domestic ticket courtesy of Philippine Airlines. The second-place winners took home ₱20,000, certificates, and tokens, while the third-place winners received ₱10,000, certificates, and tokens. Regional Director Troy Alexander Miano of the Department of Tourism Region 2 led the awarding ceremony, also handing out consolation prizes to non-winning teams.
Serving as adjudicators for the competition were Assistant Regional Director Oliver Baccay of the Philippine Information Agency, Chief Amir Mateo of the Department of Education, and Chief Djonimar Dumlao of DEPDev. Ms. Eloisa Mangulad served as the Quiz Master, ensuring a fair and engaging contest.
The event opened with a warm welcome from OIC Regional Director Evangeline Dadat of DOT Region 1, who commended the participants, coaches, and supporters for their enthusiasm and contribution to promoting tourism knowledge among the youth.
