Strengthening Community-Based Tourism through the Filipino Brand of Wellness
The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 2 Office, in partnership with the Provincial Local Government Unit of Nueva Vizcaya, successfully conducted a three-day Filipino Brand of Wellness (FBW) Training for Community-Based Tourism Organizations (CBTOs) on February 17–19, 2026, at Ammungan Hall in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

The training was designed to strengthen participants’ understanding and practical application of the Filipino Brand of Wellness framework, highlighting the integration of Filipino values, culture, sustainability, and holistic well-being into tourism products and services. Through interactive lectures, workshops, and collaborative discussions, participants gained deeper insights into developing authentic wellness experiences that promote physical vitality, mental balance, cultural pride, and community empowerment. The sessions also emphasized service excellence, destination enhancement, and the importance of aligning local tourism initiatives with national standards and global wellness trends.

Resource speaker Mr. Atho De La Cruz shared valuable knowledge and industry expertise, guiding participants from Mabuhay and Homestay accommodations, spas, resorts, and restaurants in enhancing their service offerings through the lens of wellness tourism. His discussions underscored the significance of storytelling, local traditions, and sustainable practices in creating meaningful and competitive tourism experiences.

A total of 29 participants successfully completed the training program, demonstrating their commitment to elevating the quality of tourism services in their respective communities.
By empowering communities through wellness-driven tourism, DOT Region 2 and PLGU Nueva Vizcaya continue to champion sustainable, culture-based development—strengthening local capacities and positioning Nueva Vizcaya as a premier destination that truly embodies the Filipino Brand of Wellness.#
