DOT Region 2 Supports the Launch of “nueHABIzcaya” Loom Weaving Circuit

The Provincial Tourism and Culture Office of Nueva Vizcaya (PTCO) officially launched the nueHABIzcaya Loom Weaving Circuit in celebration of National Arts Month, with the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 2 expressing its full support for the initiative.

Organized by the PTCO Nueva Vizcaya, the nueHABIzcaya Loom Weaving Circuit showcases key weaving destinations across the province, highlighting its rich indigenous textile traditions and the exceptional artistry of its cultural communities. The initiative aims to strengthen heritage preservation while promoting sustainable and community-based tourism in the Cagayan Valley Region.
Featured weaving destinations include:

Myrna Aban Handicrafts (Gaddang Weave)– Located in Villa Coloma, Bagabag, this weaving center showcases the intricate craftsmanship of the Gaddang people. It preserves traditional patterns and beadwork while empowering local artisans through sustainable livelihood initiatives.


Abel Ripo (Runruno Indigenous People Organization)– Based in Runruno, Quezon, Abel Ripo represents the collective craftsmanship of Indigenous communities including the Kalanguya, Kankana-ey, Ibaloi, Tuwali, and Ayangan groups. The initiative promotes cultural preservation while generating economic opportunities through textile production.

Mun-Abol Capisaan Weaving (Alayan Pag-asa Abot Palad Association)– Situated in Alayan, Capisaan, Kasibu, this weaving community revives and sustains traditional Abol weaving practices, strengthening cultural identity and supporting grassroots enterprise development.

Aruga Handwovens– Found in Dopaj, Dupax del Sur, Aruga champions the revival of the endangered Isinay weaving tradition. Through dedicated cultural bearers, the initiative ensures that ancestral weaving knowledge is passed on to future generations.

Through the nueHABIzcaya Loom Weaving Circuit, the PTCO Nueva Vizcaya reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the province’s cultural heritage while creating inclusive economic opportunities for local communities. DOT Region 2 continues to support such initiatives that advance creative industries and community-based tourism in Region 2.
