Coral Geographer Returns to Cagayan, Bringing Tourism Boost to Santa Ana and Gonzaga

The Coral Geographer arrived in the waters of Santa Ana and made its first-ever visit to Gonzaga, Cagayan with 89 passengers on board on December 6, 2026. The vessel redirected its original route from Claveria due to unfavorable weather conditions, making Gonzaga its alternative port of call. This adjustment was coordinated by Travel People, Wallem Philippines, and the local governments of Santa Ana and Gonzaga.

In Gonzaga, Mayor Rellie S. Dalmaceda personally welcomed the guests as they began their community-based tour. Visitors traveled aboard local jeepneys to reach their destinations, which included the Tupigan of the Gonzaga Coconut Farmers Association, a fishing and nature walk at Liban’s Farm and Nature’s Park, and a cultural interaction with the Agta (Aeta) community in Barangay Santa Clara, Sitio Bagsang. Guests were treated to cultural performances and traditional delicacies such as royal bibingka, sweet potatoes, lubi-lubi, and fresh buko.

Upon their landing at Racat Beach in Santa Ana, the guests were received by Department of Tourism Region II Regional Director Troy Alexander Miano and Santa Ana Councilor Ernesto “Jojo” Sia Jr., who expressed their support for continued tourism activities in the area. The vessel anchored at Port Irene prior to the guests’

disembarkation.

This visit highlights the growing interest of international travelers in Cagayan’s natural and cultural sites and supports ongoing efforts to strengthen community-based tourism across the province.#
