City of Ilagan’s Abuan River Glamping and Eco-Adventure Park Places 1st Runner-Up in TIEZA Tourism Investment Pitching

The proposed Abuan River Glamping and Eco-Adventure Park of the City of Ilagan, Isabela placed 1st Runner-Up in the recently concluded Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) Tourism Investment Project Pitching, a national initiative aimed at identifying high-potential tourism investment projects across the country.

Out of 17 tourism investment proposals presented by 13 regions nationwide, only five (5) projects from Local Government Units (LGUs) and Tourism Enterprise Zones (TEZs) were awarded. These select projects will be included in the UN Tourism Investment Portfolio, granting them global visibility and access to international investors and development partners.

The project was pitched during the final bootcamp by Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Romeo Caranguian before a distinguished panel of investors and industry experts representing Filinvest, the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC), Robinsons Hotels and Resorts, Leechiu Property, and the Philippine Hotel Owners Association (PHOA).

The Abuan River Glamping and Eco-Adventure Park is envisioned as a sustainable, nature-based tourism destination, combining eco-adventure experiences, environmental stewardship, and community-driven tourism development along the Abuan River. The project aligns with national tourism priorities promoting sustainability, inclusivity, and investment readiness.

The project’s strong performance was the result of extensive capacity-building efforts through a series of preparatory bootcamps attended by Regional Director Troy Alexander Miano, Assistant Regional Director Lelia Blancaflor, City Tourism Officer Maria Cristina Simon, and City Economic and Development Officer Atty. Danver Arzaga, demonstrating a whole-of-government and whole-of-sector approach to tourism investment development.

This national recognition reinforces the City of Ilagan’s position as an emerging tourism investment destination in Northern Luzon and affirms its commitment to developing competitive, sustainable, and investor-ready tourism projects.#
