DOT Region 02 Welcomes MPTC Tour of Luzon 2026 in Cagayan Valley
The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 02 proudly welcomed and supported the staging of the 2026 MPTC Tour of Luzon as the prestigious cycling event passed through the scenic routes of Cagayan Valley on May 2-4, 2026.




As part of its support, DOT Region 02 distributed corporate tokens to the Stage 5 finishers in Tuguegarao City and showcased the rich culinary heritage of the province of Cagayan Province by offering local kakanin to participants, cyclists, organizers, and guests during the fellowship dinner hosted by the Provincial Government of Cagayan on May 3, 2026. The initiative highlighted the region’s warm hospitality and commitment to promoting local culture and tourism through sports tourism activities.




The 2026 MPTC Tour of Luzon covers approximately 1,800 kilometers, traversing thirteen (13) provinces and 107 municipalities across the country, from the scenic routes of CALABARZON to the mountainous landscapes of the Cordillera Administrative Region. In Region 02, the race route passed through Bayombong in Nueva Vizcaya, continuing to Santiago City and culminating in Tuguegarao City, showcasing the region’s vibrant communities and tourism destinations.




The race features thirteen (13) participating teams composed of seven (7) domestic teams and six (6) international teams, with more than 200 cyclists joining the competition. International participants come from South Korea, United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Hong Kong, further strengthening the event’s international appeal and reinforcing the Philippines’ position as a premier destination for sports tourism.




Through its continued support for national sporting events, DOT Region 02 remains committed to promoting Cagayan Valley’s tourism destinations, cultural heritage, and local products while fostering regional pride and economic opportunities for local communities.#
