Ilagan City bags ASEAN Clean Tourist City Award 2022

The City of Ilagan in the Province of Isabela was recognized as one of the two cities in the Philippines which was recently awarded the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Clean Tourist City for 2021.

 

The award was given after the city complied with the requirements of the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Standard (ACTCS) which was received by the Philippine Ambassador in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on behalf of the City Local Government Unit on January 19, 2022.

Among the recipients of the same award is Baguio City in the Cordillera Administrative Region. Both cities were assessed in their commitment to sustainable tourism particularly in the seven indicators namely, Environmental Management, Cleanliness, Waste Management, Awareness-Building about Environmental Protection and Cleanliness, Green Spaces, Health Safety, Urban Safety and Security, and Tourism Infrastructure and Facilities.

 

Other awards given were the ASEAN Green Hotel Standard, MICE Venue Standard (Category Meeting Room) and MICE Venue Standard (Category Exhibition venue).

Ilagan City is a component city also known as the Corn Capital of the Philippines. #PRAsean
