Department of Tourism Region 2 Celebrates First Post-Pandemic Arrival from Macau, China
The Department of Tourism Region 2 (DOT Region 2) proudly welcomed 130 guests aboard Royal Air on June 21, 2023, marking a significant milestone as the first international arrival in the region since the onset of the global pandemic. The event took place at the Cagayan North International Airport (CNIA), located in Lal-lo, Cagayan.
DOT Region 2 officials and staff extended a heartfelt welcome to the guests from Macau, China. To add a touch of local charm, the DOT personnel adorned the guests with exquisite leis made from recycled paper beads sourced from Quezon, Isabela, reflecting the region’s commitment to sustainability and environmental consciousness.
The welcome reception was made even more memorable with a captivating cultural performance by the talented students of Lal-lo National High School. Their engaging showcase of local culture and creativity truly showcased the rich heritage and artistic flair of the region.
Furthermore, starting from June 21, 2023, Royal Air will be operating international routes from Macau to Lal-lo, as well as local routes connecting Lal-lo to Manila. The international flights will be available every Wednesday and Saturday, offering convenient travel options for visitors and residents alike.
The arrival of Royal Air signifies a moment of renewed hope and resilience for the tourism industry in region 2.
