Usec Morales Urges Region 2’s Tourism Stakeholders to Participate in DOT’s Initiatives

Engr. Christopher V. Morales, Undersecretary for Tourism Regulation, Coordination and Resource Generation, has urged the different tourism stakeholders in the Cagayan Valley Region to participate actively in DOT’s initiatives.

During the Regional Tourism Forum and Awards Night held at the Isabela Convention Center in Cauayan City on May 31, 2022, USec Morales said there’s a need for us to continue to provide utmost support to the tourism industry now that we are in the new and better normal.

In his message delivered virtually, the undersecretary cited the efforts of the DOT Regional Office led by Director Fanibeth T. Domingo, the region’s tourism officers, tourism enterprise owners and managers, members and officers of the Regional Tourism Council, Regional Travel and Tours Operators Association and the Regional Farm Tourism Association for their efforts to keep at bay the tourism industry amidst the pandemic.

He said for the past two years, the COVID 19 pandemic has significantly affected the tourism industry.

“But through the relentless support of the stakeholders from the public and private sectors, the state of the Philippine tourism industry has been continuously improving as we slowly but steadily navigate the path toward recovery,” he said.

USec Morales said it is worthy to recognize the tourism leaders of the region who helped shape and influence the tourism industry.

Altogether, everyone’s efforts have led the region and the country to where we are today, he said.

“We hope that, moving forward, we can help improve Cagayan Valley Region’s competitiveness by motivating both organizations and individuals to create compelling tourism experiences for everyone to enjoy,” Morales added. #PR/RTFAN/#11
