Sta.Praxedes celebrates 10th Gamet Festival
On March 27, 2018 the Municipality of Sta.Praxedes celebrated its 10th Gamet Festival.
Pyropia or Porphyra locally known as Gamet or black gold among the Ilocanos is the main product of the said municipality with a recorded production output of more than 3 metric tons per annum.
The festival highlighted the importance of this local resource and its potential in spurring economic development in the municipality.
The event was made even more festive with the contested activities such as cooking contest which uses gamet as their main ingredient and the gamet dance contest.
Dr. Dante Pasicolan, representative of the Vice-Governor of the Province of Cagayan stressed that the Gamet and other local products will make the town known for its uniqueness.
There was also distribution of fishing paraphernalia among the fisherfolks who are the gamet gatherers.
