Organization Integrated Farm and Agro-Ecotourism Park
The Department of Tourism witnessed the launching of the San Isidro Green Ladies Organization (SIGLO) Integrated Farm and Agro-Ecotourism Park at Barangay Quezon in San Isidro, Isabela yesterday, January 13, 2021.
The SIGLO President Sharon Gervacio provided a very inspiring message during the launching program where she disclosed the accomplishments of the women of San Isidro since her incumbency as president of the organization in 2019. Ms. Gervacio, who is also a Board Member of the Isabela Electric Cooperative, spearheaded the development of a 1.5-hectare land of the local government unit of San Isidro to what is now an integrated farm open to nearby towns of San Isidro and soon to visitors from all over the Province of Isabela.
The town of San Isidro stands to gain in coming up with an outdoor activity area for its residents where families and children can meet and enjoy the fruits of their labor and showcase various farm activities including its signature product, Patik Red Eggs.
According to Isabela Provincial Tourism Officer Troy Alexander Miano, the town of San Isidro is home to a church ruins believed to be the seat of the former Alcaldia (province) of Nueva Vizcaya in 1839. At that time, the provinces in Region 2 were only Cagayan and Nueva Vizcaya. The Alcaldia of Nueva Vizcaya was located in a place called Camarag up until 1856 when the Province of Isabela was created.
The ruins of the church is known as the Pueblo de San Jose de Camarag and was founded in 1752. The historic Camarag was orginally a part of Echague town and is now a barangay of the Municipality of San Isidro.
DOT Region 2 for its part committed to include the SIGLO Integrated Farm and Agro-Ecotourism Park in its data base of Day Farm Destinations and to monitor and promote the activities being conducted in the town.
San Isidro is a fifth-class municipality in the Province of Isabela run by leaders of first-class mindset led by Municipal Mayor Vilmer Bravo. Provincial Governor Rodolfo Albano III, together with Vice Governor Bojie Dy and LPGMA Congressman Allan Ty, also visited the SIGLO Integrated Farm and Agro-Ecotourism Park during the Launching Ceremony.
