Nueva Vizcaya sees more tourist arrivals

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Sept. 26 (PIA) – The provincial government here is expecting an increase on its tourist arrivals this year because of its nature and culture-based tourism attractions.

 

Marichelle Costales, Supervising Tourism Operations officer said that from January to August this year alone, they have listed 95,428 tourists  who who visited the province while 135, 715 were recorded last year.

 

“These are tourists who visited the province overnight. We expect this figure to increase by the  end of the year,” she said in a press conference last September 19.

 

Costales also bared that excursionists who visited nature and culture-based tourism attractions in the province grew from more than 85,000 in 2015 to 255,065 last year.

 

She said that the number of excursionists from January to August this year is already at 189,906.

 

“Aside from our nature and culture-based tourism attractions, excursionists also visited our historical and cultural events like the yearly Grand Ammungan Festival in May, among others,” Costales added.

 

She further said that the top four places mostly visited by  local tourists are the Lower Magat Eco-Tourism Park (LMETP) at barangay San Luis in Diadi town, the Balete Pass at barangay Tactac in Sta. Fe town, the world-class multi-chambered Capissaan Cave System at barangay Malabing in Kasibu town and the Nueva Vizcaya People’s Museum and Library in Bayombong town.

 

Costales said the  local tourism officers gave their respective assistance and support in gathering records of tourist arrivals in the province, including provision of assistance to foreign and local tourists who visit their localities.

 

“The Nueva Vizcaya Tourism Council (NVTC) is encouraging town mayors to consider  tourism as one of the  strategies for economic development,” Costales said. (MDCT/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
