The DOT Regional Office 2 will suspend operations tomorrow, 14 September to allow staff to secure their residences for the projected landfall of Typhoon Ompong on Saturday morning in the Cagayan-Isabela area.
The DOT building at the Regional Government Center in Tuguegarao is already secured, with equipment and important documents being wrapped for extra protection. The building would hopefully incur minimal damage as it did with Super Typhoon Lawin in October 2016.
While ensuring staff safety foremost, the regional office will be giving regular updates to DOT Central should unmanageable tourist situations be experienced and could not be handled by respective LGUs. We trust that escalation procedures by respective local governments for municipal, city, and provincial disaster and emergency action will function.
Although the regional office has a standby power generator, communications disruptions after the typhoon will occur. Please expect delays for replies required from the regional office.
For your information and guidance.
