DOT supports 1st New Normal Chess Tournament
The Department of Tourism, Region 2 supported the staging of the 1st New Normal Chess Tournament organized by the Cagayan Chess
Development Club (CCDC) at the Robinsons Place Tuguegarao last March 19, 2022.
Senior Tourism Officer Romeo Caranguian delivered an inspirational message for the Department of Tourism, Region 2. He conveyed that in chess tournaments, skill and respect are very important. Respect with competitors makes a lasting impression. He added that just like in
tourism, it promotes mutual respect and inclusivity.
The Cagayan Chess Development Club is the sole governing body of chess tournament in the province recognized by the National Chess
Federation of the Philippines. The CCDC aims to develop and train young generations in the field of chess. It envisions producing grandmasters in the future.
The chess tournament was graced with almost a hundred players who competed for the much coveted cash prize and trophy. The chess tournament was open to all non-master players.
