DOT Region 2 Promotes Sustainable Tourism through Carrying Capacity Development Workshop

As part of its commitment to fostering sustainable tourism practices and community engagement, the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 2 conducted a two-day workshop on Carrying Capacity Development at Mango Suites, Cauayan City, Isabela, on March 21-22, 2024.

The two-day activity delved into the concept of carrying capacity, which refers to the maximum population size that an environment can sustainably support. By understanding this concept, tourism stakeholders can collaborate to mitigate negative impacts and promote responsible travel practices.

In his message, DOT Regional Director Troy Alexander G. Miano emphasized the importance of dialogue and collaboration among tourism stakeholders to empower them to make informed decisions that promote environmental resilience and sustainability.

Various tourism stakeholders who are part of the Majestic Isabela: Your Flavors of FUN and Nature’s Divine Tourism Circuit participated through a series of engaging presentations, interactive discussions, and hands-on activities.

The workshop was facilitated by technical experts from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Forester Nestor S. Lorenzo, and Ms. Luzviminda U. Rosario.

Isabela Provincial Tourism Officer Joanne Dy Maranan also extended her heartfelt gratitude to the Department for continuously capacitating their tourism stakeholders through a series of capacity-building programs and looks forward to more collaborations in the future.#
