DOT Region 2 conducts Familiarization Tour of Quirino Province Tourism Circuit
The Department of Tourism, Region 2 in collaboration with the Provincial Local Government of Quirino (PLGU) concluded a four-day regional familiarization tour of Quirino: Your Basket of Happiness! Tourism Circuit last November 24- 27, 2021.
The familiarization tour was participated by tour operators, media partners and tourism officers in the region.
The four-day familiarization tour brought the participants to various natural attractions to experience adventure activities. The familiarization tour focused on site inspection of facilities, activities and attractions under the new normal.
On the first day of the Familiarization Tour, the participants experienced wakeboarding at the Quirino Watersports Complex. The PLGU launched their new tourism brand “Quirino: Your Basket of Happiness” during the welcome dinner where they served native delicacies to the participants.
A jam packed nature and cultural immersion also happened on the second day. In Barangay Baguio Village, Diffun, Quirino, the participants went trekking and swimming to four waterfalls. The Indigenous People living in Barangay Baguio Village performed an Ifugao Cultural dance at the Bagnes Eco-Park to entertain the participants. The physical exhaustion was all worth it as native cuisines and fresh fruits were served to re-energize the participants.
The third day was a visit to Maddela’s Governor’s Rapid where the participants challenged the mighty Cagayan River’s depth and current through water tubing and cliff diving. A visit to the Department of Agriculture-Quirino Experiment Station completed the third day’s itinerary where the participants witnessed cow milking and mushroom production. The participants partook in healthy snacks of mushroom burger and moringa ice cream.
Concluding the familiarization tour, was a visit to Aglipay Caves and Campsite. Participants went on a trail hike to appreciate the natural environment of the area. The fossilized flower making in Gamis, Saguday, Quirino was also a part of the itinerary where an actual demonstration on the creation of fossilized products took place.
The activities in the various sites and tourism destinations found in the Province of Quirino during the conduct of the Familiarization Tour of “Quirino: Your Basket of Happiness!” Tourism Circuit were all exciting and thrilling.

With the launching of the Quirino: Your Basket of Happiness, the Province of Quirino also installed Health and Safety Protocols in all tourist destinations validated by the Department of Tourism.
