DOT R2 conducts 1st Hybrid Consultation Workshops for Cagayan

The Department of Tourism, Region 02 conducted its first hybrid consultation workshop for the formulation of local tourism development plans for the Province of Cagayan last July 21-23, 2021.

Regional Director Fanibeth Domingo discussed the salient features of the tourism guidebook and guided the participants on how to use it in the formulation of their respective local tourism development plans.

RD Domingo also shared the Tourism Response and Recovery Plans (TRRP) of the region which includes various tourism activities that will be conducted within the year in cooperation with the tourism stakeholders of the region.

 

Other topics discussed during the consultation workshop include the 2021 Plans and Programs of the DOT-R2 by the Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Lelia Blancaflor and the Plans and Programs of the Province of Cagayan presented by Provincial Tourism Officer Jenifer Junio-Baquiran.

Meanwhile, presentations for the Product Audit Workshop were delivered by Senior Tourism Operations Officer Romeo Caranguian, Jr., where he shared the seven criteria for site evaluation as well as Tourism Circuit Identification. The workshop on tourism circuit preparation was necessary in order for the Municipal Tourism Officers to come up with their respective tourism products or experiences.

The participants in the consultation workshops were the provincial, municipal and city tourism officers of the Province of Cagayan. Due to the challenges posed by slow internet connection, some of the online participants were not able to make their presentatiorowever, a follow through activity will be conducted. This is to ensure that the Province of Cagayan will be able to come up with its provincial circuit.

Participants, speakers and facilitators who attended the face-to-face workshop submitted a negative antigen test result and a Barangay certification that they are not on the list of Persons Under Monitoring (PUM), Persons Under Investigation (PUIs) or part of any contact tracing activity as required by the Local Government Unit of Lal-lo where the workshop was conducted
