DOT partners with Tuguegarao in Basic Tourism Statistics Training

The Department of Tourism, Region 2, in partnership with the City of Tuguegarao conducted a Basic Tourism Statistics Training (BTST) for tourism industry stakeholders in the city and nearby towns on September 11-13, 2019. The training aims to provide participants the knowledge of using the standard reporting forms for tourist arrivals of overnight guests and guests in tourism attractions.

DOT looks forward to the attendance of some 50 private sector managers and representatives of accommodation facilities in the City of Tuguegarao and local tourism officers with other LGUs in the Province of Cagayan.

The training on Basic Tourism Statistics is vital to the tourism industry in order to be able to monitor the economic impact that tourists arrivals make in the service industry of the city and the region as well. Data in tourist arrivals will help the city  and other local government units in making decisions for future trends in development specially in infrastructure and human resource which can be reflected in their Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP).

DOT Region 2 also recently conducted the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) Training for employees of DOT – Accredited accommodation facilities in Tuguegarao City. The FBSE aims to provide a better understanding and application of the standard tourism hospitality service in the country.

The conduct of BTST is mandated under Republic Act 9593, Section 30 which requires the LGUs to monitor tourist arrivals from accommodation establishments and tourism attractions.
