DOT Continues to Campaign a Quality Tourism Standard Services and Facilities Through the Amended Accreditation Guidelines

The Department of Tourism, Region 2, is actively promoting quality tourism standards and services through the recently updated Progressive Accreditation System (UPAS) outlined in DOT MC No. 2023-0003. Aligned with Republic Act No. 9593, the Tourism Act of 2009, this accreditation is essential for the operation of tourism enterprises.

Under the leadership of Regional Director Troy Alexander G. Miano, the Department of Tourism Regional Office II, along with Tourism Quality Advisors, conducted a two-day informational campaign on November 21-22, 2023. This initiative, held in collaboration with local tourism officers, covered provinces like Cagayan, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, and Isabela, engaging 79 participants from various tourism stakeholders.

The campaign aims not only to reach DOT Accredited Enterprises but also Primary Tourism Enterprises and frontliner providers. The UPAS introduces three levels of Accreditation: Basic, Regular, and Premium, emphasizing quality and excellence to enhance the global competitiveness of the tourism industry.

Looking ahead, the DOT R2 Accreditation Team will extend its orientation efforts to the Province of Batanes in the coming weeks. #
