DOT Conducts First Fun Farms Tour Guiding in Region 2

The Department of Tourism, Region 2 successfully conducted a training on Fun Farms Tour Guiding with Filipino Brand of Service Excellence last March 30-April 1, 2022 in Ilagan City, Isabela. This three-day activity was actively participated by 26 Farm Tourism Owners, Managers and Staff of the different Farm Tourism Sites in the Province of Isabela.
The training was facilitated by Mr. Romano Del Rosario, a DOT – Accredited Trainer. He is also the Vice President of Luzon for Philippine Federation of Professional Tour Guides Association and is currently an Executive Board Member of the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations.
The conduct of Fun Farms Tour Guiding is in line with Republic Act No. 10816 otherwise known as Farm Tourism Act of 2016 which provides rules and regulations for the Development and Promotion of Farm Tourism in the Philippines. It also aims to provide training for Cagayan Valley Farm Stakeholders on basic tour guiding and effective customer service for cascading to their staff.
DOT Cagayan Valley Regional Director Fanibeth Domingo visited the training venue to personally greet the participants and share words of wisdom to encourage the industry workers to enhance the manpower and service standards needed by Farm Tourism Sites in the region. Through this training, the participants were hopeful that they can level up their farm tourism services and be a DOT-Accredited Farm Tourism Site.
Enhancing farm tourism experience for farm visitors is very important as the region is basically an agriculture region. Tourist activities in farm sites can provide additional income to the farm owners and provide for a sustainable tourism experience all year round.
