Department of Tourism, Region 2 Commends Outstanding Tourism Achievements at ATOP-Pearl Awards 2023

The Department of Tourism, Region 2, proudly applauds the remarkable accomplishments of its local tourism champions at the recently concluded Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines-2023 Pearl Awards (ATOP-Pearl Awards) held in Boracay Island, Aklan on October 5, 2023.

The ATOP-Pearl Awards is a prestigious annual event that celebrates excellence and innovation in tourism promotion, recognizing the outstanding contributions of individuals and entities in the tourism industry. This year’s edition showcased the exceptional talents and dedication of our Region 2 representatives who garnered top accolades and recognition.

Region 2 took center stage at the ATOP-Pearl Awards, with the following destinations earning well-deserved recognition:

1. Cauayan City, Isabela: Eclipsed the competition by securing the Grand Winner
title for “Best Sports Tourism Event.”

2. Province of Nueva Vizcaya: Celebrated as the 1st Runner-Up for their
exemplary “Best Brochure for Tourism Promotions.”

3. Province of Isabela: Proudly named the 2nd Runner-Up for the esteemed “Best
Program for the Culture and the Arts” award.

4. Province of Cagayan: Distinguished as the 2nd Runner-Up in the competitive
“Best Promotional Tourism Video Award” category.

5. Province of Quirino: Notably recognized as the 2nd Runner-Up for their
remarkable “Best Cultural Festival.”

Furthermore, the Municipality of Echague in the Province of Isabela garnered special recognition as a finalist in the “Best in Community-Based Tourism” category. Additionally, the Province of Cagayan itself stood proudly as a finalist in the “Best in Tourism Oriented Provincial Level”  category.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of Regional Director Troy Alexander Miano, who was joined by Provincial, City, and Municipal Tourism Officers representing the region. The event was further honored by the attendance of Governor Manuel Mamba of the Province of Cagayan.

In a display of unwavering support and commitment to the tourism industry, Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, alongside other officials of the Department of Tourism (DOT) and its attached agencies, were in attendance during the 2023 ATOP convention. Their presence underscores the DOT’s dedication to fostering tourism excellence and sustainable development.

The Department of Tourism, Region 2, extends its warmest congratulations to all the awardees, finalists, and representatives who have showcased the region’s exceptional tourism offerings on the national stage. These achievements reinforce the region’s commitment to promoting its rich culture, breathtaking landscapes, and vibrant communities.
