Department of Tourism, Region 2 Celebrates ASEAN Awards Winners for Outstanding Achievements in Tourism

The Department of Tourism, Region 2, proudly extends its warmest congratulations to the deserving winners of the prestigious ASEAN Awards from the region. The recently concluded awarding ceremony, held on November 27 at Discovery Primea, Makati City, was a celebration of excellence and commitment to sustainable tourism practices.

The ASEAN Community Based Tourism Award Hall of Fame was bestowed upon the Palaui Environmental Protectors Association (PEPA), acknowledging their outstanding contributions to community-based tourism. Mr. Edwin Tabucol, representing PEPA, and Ms. Maria Jesusa Zingapan of Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) graciously accepted the award, highlighting their dedication to environmental protection and sustainable tourism practices.

 

In addition, the City of Ilagan was honored with the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Award, recognizing their efforts in maintaining cleanliness and promoting sustainable tourism. City Tourism Officer Maria Cristina Simon and Mr. Samuel Acosta accepted the award on behalf of the City of Ilagan, showcasing their commitment to providing visitors with an exceptional and eco-friendly experience.

The award recipients were joined on stage by Chief Thomas Santos of the Department of Tourism, Region 2, emphasizing the collaborative efforts that have led to the success of these outstanding tourism initiatives.
