Department of Tourism, Region 02 conducts Muslim-Friendly Tourism Webinar for Accommodation Establishments and Restaurants
The Department of Tourism, Region 02 conducted an online training on Muslim-friendly Tourism for Accommodation Establishments and Restaurants in the region via zoom platform last July 22, 2021.
The online training discussed the requirements and procedures in managing public facilities, tour packages, health and wellness centers that cater to Muslim travelers and Muslim communities as well as interesting insights on Muslim culture and practices.
Tourism stakeholders and owners of DOT – accredited accommodation establishments learned about the newly issued DOT-Memorandum Circular 2020-010 on the Guidelines Governing the Operations and Recognition of Muslim-Friendly Accommodation Establishments.
Speakers of the online training were Assistant Secretary for Mindanao and DOT Region 9 Director Myra Paz-Valderrosa-Abubakar, Assistant Secretary and Officer In-Charge Rosario Virginia C. Gaetos of the Export Marketing Bureau of the Department of Trade and Industry which was represented by Mr. Al-Mandi Isahac Jul-Ahmad and Professor Luqman L. Bin Imam, President of Philippine Ulama Congress Organization Incorporated which was represented by Mr. Jamil Esmael Mangontawar.
The Muslim-Friendly Tourism Webinar for Accommodation Establishments and Restaurants is the first of its kind to be conducted in the country by the Department of Tourism.
